Where exactly is Nalari?
Nalari is in Lawbyrwa village in the Sumer area of Ri-Bhoi, on the Guwahati side of Umiam Lake. Published guides describe it as about 6 km off the Guwahati–Shillong road at Sumer, and the last stretch is a village road. Use the Google Maps link or ask the resort for the current location pin.
How long does the drive take?
Google Maps estimates seen in October 2026: about 20–30 minutes to Umiam Lake, about 45 minutes to Shillong Airport at Umroi, about 1 hour 10 minutes to central Shillong (Ward’s Lake) and about 2 hours 20 minutes to Guwahati airport. Rain, traffic and road works can add considerably, especially in the monsoon.
